Why Are So Many Irish From The Republic Living in Great Britain?
Why are there so many Irish living in England? They wanted their Republic of Ireland but continue to live in Gret Britain. We had to put up with them in the 1970's and their bombing campaign in England. Why are the Irish living in Great Britain and always belong to these anarchist groups? Trying to disrupt our way of living?

Tony B occupation
I dont see Northern Ireland as occupied any more, if there are a lot of troops on the streets, it seems really about maintaining order, to prevent it immediately lapsing into a white Beirut.remember that in fact originally in the 60s when the UK troops came, the Catholics greeted them as saviors from Unionist violence. You want to end that, & join the North to the Republic? Maybe then the Protestants would claim to be "occupied".I DO agree, that Unionist activists should cease orange-day marches.

Get your facts straight people
@Tony, you sound like the idiots the report is based on. With the vast majority of people in NI wanting to retain the status quo and maintain links with Britain your brit bashing is mind numbingly boring, predictable and out of touch. @Sean, Just to clarify a minor point, being a catholic and a unionist are not mutually exclusive so try use the correct terminology when trying to debate a point. @Sarah, I've read your post a few times now. What are you on about???

Old story
It is de rigeur in the media that the word sectarian be used when referrring to Northern Ireland, but religion is not the problem here anymore than it is in Iraq, another country where the British use force to attempt to rule. To describe the problem as sectarian is to mistate the real causes of the problem which are political, economic, legal and social. What if Irish migrants to Australia insisted on Irish rule and the Irish flag and recognised no Parliament except Dail Eireann?

one sided arguement
Completely one sided story that did not even touch on the loyalist orchestrated gang violence that is rife in East Belfast and other areas. Search the transcript and you will not even find the word loyalist mentioned. How can you have a story on Belfast street violence and not have of this side of the story explored. I find it bizarre.

Orange Order Parades
Excellent piece. However, your report fails to explain why marching thru & around Catholic areas is so important to the Unionists. The whole purpose of a parade is to reinforce to Catholics who is in charge. It is to demonstratwe to Catholis that Unionists can and will enter their streets at any time that Unionists choose. Tthat is why Unionists go ballistic when attempts are made to re-route their 'parades'.
