Incoming planes. Outgoing deaths.
3,000 dead Americans, with accompanying horrific images. Played time and time again. Previously 500,000 dead Iraqi children from merciless US sanctions. Images? "A price worth paying" said Madeline Albright. Our double standards are aptly illustrated by labeling Islamic bombs as 'terrorism' [and counting every single victim] but calling it 'collateral damage' when US cluster bombs and missiles kill and maim tens; if not hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan.

9/11 because of Palestine?
No matter what some people say (UtopiaNow) there is something which I believe many people just don't understand. Ever since the creation of the modern state of Israel in 1948 there have been significant numbers of Muslims who wish to destroy it. A "Jewish" state on "Muslim" land is unacceptable to them. There are lots of Islamic scriptures which disparage Jews. Some Muslim Arabs (we are told) are citizens of Israel and happy to be so.Others believe religion requires them to never accept Israel.

Forget the religion angle, follow the money
Reasonable PC effort as usual however, same old problem, we are "dealing the symptoms and not the cause". I saw Bin Laden making a video speech screened immediately after 911 attack on SBS TV and he was saying words to the effect "Why should the people in USA live in peace and the people in Palestine live in fear". It was screened for only a few times & then it was pulled! Seemed he was saying the cause of 911 was Israel's crimes against Palestinians. Forget the religion angle follow the money.

war profiteers don't want a peace
I think Scheuer was at least partly right......"we really need to listen to the enemy"....He is wrong in my view in saying "what we do may be absolutely necessary to support Saudi tyranny and Israel and to maintain the flow of oil" ..,..he is not saying war profiteers don't want a peace because they are stealing huge resources of other nations (which is not necessary) and stealing from us too. And in the process they have been killing and maiming millions and their "bigger enemy, our dissent".
