disapointing journalism on sbs

was disapointed on how the journalist reporting on this second part of program pushed people to speak in defiance of their government...as if they can tell the truth and be safe!

Syrians support President Assad!

Yes the MAJORITY of Syrians support President Assad. As a frequent traveller to Syria, I stand by my relatives who have been protected and looked after by Preasidne Assad. Syrians a a religious people, and presidnet Assad famously said, "I want to take religion out of politics, but not out of our people"...Thus his secular leadership style has seen the equal rights of Christians with their muslim brothers. The only people against him are the Xtremists, heaven forbid they come to power!

Al Asaad with you forever

i agree totally with Hasan from Sydney. Leave Syria alone. To the US, WHAT did you do to Iraq, Libya, Afganistan, Egypt????? (caos) Its ok for the UK to defend itself and people a couple of mths ago after the riots, but when Syria has to its wrong. WHY? He is called an extremist or terriosts God Bless President Al Asaad, and start showing the millions of people showing up in support of him and not the hundreds aganist

2-bit Aboriginal slurs by posters.

Ethnics who continually attempt to throw up obtuse slurs about the aboriginals in Australia also need to get their basic facts straight, perhaps they have some misconceptions. Despite-YES-- their very poor social condition, Australia actually provides for the aboriginals with pretty amazing generosity, the range of payments and benefits to them are very $$$comprehensive by world standards. Also, you wont actually notice any tanks or F16s chasing aboriginals around the landscape. So get it right.

No oil conspiracy.

Id say that maybe a demo with 1 million in support isnt shown while one with 10000 against is shown, because the 1 million in support do not have to worry about the army & police opening fire on them. True, the demos in support should have been shown. My own feeling is that people who think any of these people are for 'democracy" are dreaming on a flying carpet somewhere. It is about Islamists & ethnic and sectarian autonomy. Also, Syria is not much of an oil state for US oil-conspiracists.

your year's work

Congratulations to you for an always interesting, infallibly unique take on situations around the world. I particularly appreciated Yalda's reports on Afghanistan and Mark's on Syria. The attempt to see a variety of points of view is sure to attract displeasure, but for me, it adds to the veracity of what you say. I am left with not a whole lot of certainty but a sense of perspectve. Some nuance in a world where the three word caption attempts to cover it all. May Walkley's come your way.

shocked

I could not believe such a program as Dateline could belittle it self buy airing such a one sided program. It leaned towards the wrong and not the right, which is the president of Syria and his government. Why was the protest in favor of the president with over 1000000 people marching not shown but the one against with under 10000 shown. Tell the full story or don't tell it at all. That bold guy just kept looking for the wrong but could not find it. Go look in your own backyard. Aboriginal rights
