Say NO to Chinese imports
China is turning the whole world into a toxic waste dump. When are govs going to wake up to the cancer that is China itself. The Australian government itself is a supporter of this environmental degradation by allowing these cheap goods into the country, importing masses of food products from China including seafood!!! Seafood into the island of Australia - go figure. Next time you are chowing down on that cheap bowl of asian noodles think about the toxic imported prawns that are floating in it

A lesson for all of us
Thankyou for bringing us this story. It is sad that human values and human lives are sacrified in pursuit of economic progress. What value do we place on human lives and suffering? What percentage of 'damage' is acceptable? There are the cancer villages that we know of, the many land grap cases, the Foxconn workers suicides........How many more stories do we need before the Chinese government wake up to these issues? .This development model is clearly not sustainable!

terrible to the extreme
In my heart i know that we are really all connected. Our policy towards China, political and economic needs to reflect the knowledge of how they are prepared to treat their own. Is this what companies will do if they are left to their own devices?

Global repurcussion
This is another example of how globally interconnected we are. It's impossible to know if and where other incidents such as these are occurring. We import food and goods from other countries, yet what standards of care are being used in their manufacture? Profits above life has been the motto, but continuing like this will be our global downfall. We need to realize that at our state of human development we as individuals cannot prosper unless the whole world prospers. Or we fall together.

There is an answer.
There is no excuse for this toxic waste, chromium can be treated and neutralized. Water and soil can also be treated and the land can be successfully rehabilited. Yes, it is reasonably expensive , but what cost do you put on human life. The govt of China needs to address this issue as eventually it will affect us all, perhaps it already has.

Why would you import food from China?
After having viewed this segment of food being grown alongside poisonous chemical waste dumps, who in their right mind would knowingly buy or consume food imported from China? This news story should be front page news. Produce from China should be rigorously boycotted. The Chinese government is aware of this and does nothing to address the life threatening situation to its own people. Must save face at all costs.
