You don't know what you've got till it's gone

There should be an internat. effort (military inc) to help protect these end. animals and just as import the enviro they live in. It's easy to say the locals need the meat but the fact is once these creatures & the enviro are gone they're gone forever then what? The humans that continue to survive into the future will be poorer for it. These animals are on the absolute brink of extinction. I also agree with Jess that China is and will cont to be a danger environmentally in Africa as elsewhere.

Conservation in the face of Poverty

Its next to impossible to teach someone about conservation when it boils down to will my family eat or not! I felt that there wasn't enough focus on the fact that its the damn multi million dollar MNCs (logging companies) that are giving them deeper access to the jungle in the first place as they RAPE THE LAND and the so called "developed" nations and China reap the benefits. How about making them accountable for their actions or is it easier to point the finger at the natives ?

Hungry and Uneducated

These people who are poaching are not Horrible people they are simply hungry and uneducated ,if they Know these animals will cause them diseases they wouldnt do it and if we donate proper meat for them they wouldnt dare touching these gorillas Instead of these fools making sancturies ,they should make schools to educate these people, and the money spend on these sancturies spend on feeding the poor people so the gorilla can be raised by her real life mum a gorilla not a human. It is that simple.

WILDLIFE POACHING IN THE CAMEROON

It is terrible what these poachers are doing to these beautiful chimpanzees and gorillas (and other wildlife too). It is a shocking situation. It is wonderful to see people helping these chimps and gorillas by rescuing many and settling them into sanctuaries. These poachers who do these dreadful things to the animals need to be caught as quickly as possible and dealt with by the law.

Spot Fires Everywhere

Ecological and environmental destruction is now so omnipresent as to resemble spotfires popping up everywhere. Nature is in full retreat on many fronts. A disease or virus unleashed upon humanity because of human interference would be devastatingly ironic but justly deserved from the perspective of the untold numbers of murdered non- human animals.

Bush meat

Breaks my heart watching what these rare and beautiful animals go through all this pain and suffering...However to watch them laugh when they get tickled reminds me of my nieces act the same way. I will diffidently donate ;-)

Heavy Heart for Cameroon's Wildlife

Just watched this alarming report, wonderfully put together by Evan Williams - thank you! Hard to watch fellow citizens of the world threatening our closest relatives with extinction. Just as hard knowing the desperation these people face day to day that is forcing them to commit such atrocities. Felt like leaping off the couch and getting on the next flight to Cameroon. How much bloody longer does this stuff need to go on?! Really SAD! Thank you Dateline.
