Taser, a MUST for Police

It's simple, Taser is a use of force option and nothing else. It is in NO way an alternative to lethal force. You bring a knife I bring a gun, Tasers are not 100% guaranteed to work. How about asking those of use who have taken a hit from a Taser and been sprayed with pepper spray which they prefer. Pepper spray as we say is the gift that keeps on giving. The recovery from a Taser is almost instant. There are about 6000-7000 Police in QLD who have taken the hit and are just fine.

Many people cannot see the difference between an issue of over-zealous or mistaken ID use of the device,& the merits of use of the device itself. If wrong person was TAZERd ,or over-aggressive use, then that case warrants investigation individual case merits.Guy in black shirt, thats HIS version, maybe true, maybe not quite. Whoa-amazing! when offenders cry victim, right becomes wrong and wrong becomes right,in a land of lawsuits & activists. Maybe anarchist & lefty demo-ers dont like opposition.

Taser debate

I found your story on Tasers unbalanced. The taser rep was not given any air time and the so called investigative journalist you interviewed used emotive language "I still feel her tears etc" instead of sticking to the facts. The fact that SOME police officers misuse them or police departments have poor guidelines is not a fair representation of the device. If a police officer stabs someone with a pen would you be attacking pens? FACTS: Taser = LESS deaths in custody & injured civiies/cops.

& there wasnt even room to add, the further gobsmacking stupidity, including of the presenter,of even suggesting that they would rather be beaten with a night-stick than Tazered. Try it sometime. Do you really believe that blunt-intrument blows to the head,or even body carry no risk,or even much less risk, of death or maiming? Do you really imagine that noone was killed in arrests involving stickplay? Get it through your head. There is no completely benign passive way of subduing all suspects.

Taser Use

I use taser in a professional capacity and find they're a effective tool to combat violent offender/s. The question is this if your friend, son, daughter was violent and confronted Police in a violent way which could result in death or serious injury. Would you prefer your loved one killed, or controlled by the use of a taser? I know which option I would choose.

To Dave from Sydney

Dave, did you even watch the story? The device is clearly being used against people who have either done nothing wrong, or at least nothing deserving lethal force. Do you think that guy in the black shirt who was just walking home would otherwise have been shot dead?

Taser

My understanding of the Taser system is that it is only used when a situation would otherwise require the use of leathal force, given the choice of a bullet or the Taser, I know which one I would prefer. Why is it that these "do gooders" are quick to blast those who are trying to protect our community? Only people with the intention to do wrong should feel scared of being punished...!
