Since 1992, Jo has worked as a producer, director, performer, writer and facilitator. In 2006, her first venture into film writing and directing, AFC/MRC funded short Like You Do, gained a nomination at the SA film awards for best performance. She has shot and directed six short docos for United Care Wesley, produced and directed four short films for theatre productions and completed her advanced diploma in professional screenwriting at RMIT in 2008.
Jo was Artistic Director of No Strings Attached, a theatre company for people with disabilites from 1999 to 2004 and has worked as a community arts worker/facilitator devising and directing a multitude of productions with people of varying cultures, ages and abilities.
Currently she is a comic character in an outdoor theatre production Three Men in A Tub, co-directs and performs in the workplace training group The Jump, presents Bogan Bingo and clowns at various events, festivals and venues. In the meantime, Jo is developing short film scripts and is ready to be inspired for her next documentary adventure.
