Legally Blonde
It`s not a majorly witty film, but it does have the talented Reese Witherspoon at its core.
Rich, spoilt, superficial Californian Elle Woods - Reese Witherspoon fully expects that boyfriend Warner - Matthew Davis, will pop the question at the end of four years of college. She`s shocked, stunned, bewildered when he informs her their relationship is over, that`s he`s going to Harvard to study law so he can be a senator by the time he`s thirty. He says he needs a suitable wife, a Jackie not a Marilyn. Undeterred Elle decides to follow him, to prove herself. Unfortunately Elle`s lolly pink lifestyle doesn`t suit Harvard at all. She finds herself befriending a local manicurist Paulette, Jennifer Coolidge and becoming involved with graduate student Emmet, Luke Wilson - in helping to defend a woman accused of murder.
Legally Blonde is blithely exuberant. Interestingly it`s very similar thematically to Titsiana Booberini, both films are about not judging a book by its cover. But with Legally Blonde it`s quite a slim volume. It`s not a majorly witty film, but it does have the talented Reese Witherspoon at its core, a major advantage. Compared to Clueless which was a smart take on female vacuousness, Legally Blonde is actually a Marilyn. However, like that quintessential blond bombshell, it certainly has its moments.
