Synopsis: At Kinetech Labs, an inventor (David Eigenberg) designs a robot for search and rescue, but when he finds out that the robot will be used for military purposes, he programs the robot to flee. It is discovered by twelve-year-old Henry (Bobby Coleman), who fixes it and names it Cody. Cody quickly becomes a valuable part of Henry's family. Eventually, Kinetech finds Cody and brings him back to the laboratories. The inventor, feeling guilty for taking Cody, returns him to Henry and in the process meets and falls in love with Henry's mother (Penelope Ann Miller). Kinetech wants the robot back, so it kidnaps the inventor and Henry's mother forcing Henry and Cody to embark on a mission to save them and to bring down Kinetech.
