Turtles Can Fly
Shot in an active war zone with non-professional actors, Turtles Can Fly, is a remarkable achievement. Ghobadi captures strong and courageous performances from what is primarily a cast of children, in cinema verit? style. Soran Ebrahim?s accomplished portrayal of Satellite, shows the strength of a leader as well as the vulnerability of a child. Despite the tragedy in this story Ghobadi?s script balances it with much humour and hope. I think this is inspirational filmmaking.
