TERMS AND CONDITIONS


METHOD OF ENTRY

1.    Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2.    Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over only.  Employees of SBS, Astral and Star City, their agencies and their immediate families are ineligible.  By entering this competition, entrants will be deemed to agree with these terms of entry.

3.    “The Culinary World Cup Competition” commences on Thursday, 27 May, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST and ends on Monday, 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.  

Submission Period:
Commences Thursday, 27 May at 12:00 noon AEST through to Tuesday, 15 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.  

Selection Period:
Commences Tuesday, 15 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST through to Monday, 21 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST. An SBS representative at 14 Herbert Street, Artarmon, NSW 2064 will judge the entries and select the best twelve (12) entries. The twelve (12) Entries will be published on the SBS website www.sbs.com.au/food for public voting.

Voting Period:

Round 1:

Commences Monday, 21 June, 2010, 12:00 noon AEST through to Monday, 5 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.  Six (6) Entries with the highest number of votes will carryover to Round 2.  

Round 2:
Commences Monday, 5 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon to Monday, 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.  At the beginning of Round 2, voting is reset to zero.

4.    To enter, participants must log onto www.sbs.com.au/food and follow the directions on the website.  Participants must register their details, including (but not limited to) name, address, postcode and phone number and submit a recipe that represents a cuisine that has had an influence on Australian eating habits.  A photograph of the recipe may also be uploaded with the entry. The photograph will be published at the discretion of SBS. Participants must answer the following three questions about their entry:

a)    Why is your recipe representative of this cuisine?
b)    What makes this cuisine special?
c)    Why this cuisine important to Australia? (“The Entry”)

The top twelve (12) Entries will be judged by an SBS representative at 14 Herbert Street, Artarmon NSW 2064 and published on the SBS website www.sbs.com.au/food on Monday, 21 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST. The public will have the opportunity to vote on the Entry they think is the best. The six (6) Entries that have received the most public votes in Round 1 by Monday, 5 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST will carry over to Round 2 which commences Monday, 5 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST. At the beginning of Round 2 the vote count is reset to zero. The Entry which has received the most public votes by the end of Round 2 on Monday, 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST will win the Major Prize. The Entry with the second highest public votes in Round 2 will receive the Runner Up Prize.

5.    Online entries are limited to one entry per email address.  All Entries become and remain the property of SBS.

6.    SBS reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of Australian residency status at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity, in order to claim a prize. Acceptance of proof of identification, Australian residency status and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the SBS. In the event that a winner cannot provide proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.

7.    Incomprehensible and incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.

PRIZES

Major Prize

8.    The Major Prize winner will win a dinner for themselves and five (5) guests at Star City’s Astral Restaurant, hosted by chef Sean Connolly of My Family Feast, SBS.  The dinner at Star City must be taken no later than Friday, 10 December, 2010.  The dinner will exclude NSW public holidays and Saturdays. The date of the Major Prize dinner to be agreed between the Major Prize winner and Star City.
    
The evening of the dinner at Astral Restaurant, Star City, the Major Prize winner and their five (5) guests will receive one night’s accommodation/twin share at Star City including breakfast (total three twin share rooms); and  

Return economy airfares to Sydney for the Major Prize winner and their five (5) guests from their nearest capital city in Australia, valued at up to AU$3,600.

Runner Up Prize

The Runner Up prize winner will win a dinner for themselves and a guest at Star City’s Astral Restaurant.  The dinner at Star City must be taken no later than Friday, 10 December, 2010.  The dinner will exclude NSW public holidays and Saturdays.
 
The evening of the dinner at Astral Restaurant, Star City, the Runner Up and their guest will receive one night’s accommodation/twin share at Star City including breakfast; and

Return economy airfares to Sydney for the Runner Up and their guest from their nearest capital city in Australia, valued at up to AU$1,200.

Total dinner and accommodation valued at up to AU$5,000
Total airfares valued at up to AU$4,800

Total prize package valued at up to AU$9,800.

9.    All valid Entries are automatically entered into the prize pool.  

Submission Period:
Commences Thursday, 27 May at 12:00 noon AEST through to Tuesday, 15 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.

Commences Tuesday, 15 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST through to Monday, 21 June, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST. Commences Monday, 5 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon to Monday, 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST.  At the beginning of Round 2, voting is reset at zero.

The Entry to receive the highest number of public votes in Round 2 by Monday, 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 noon AEST will win the Major Prize. The Major Prize winner will be notified by phone and mail on Monday, 12 July, 2010. The Major Prize winner must confirm their prize by Friday, 16 July, 2010, 14:00 AEST.  Once the Major Prize winner has accepted their prize (no later than Friday, 16 July, 2010, 14:00 AEST) the Runner Up Prize will be awarded to the participant whose Entry has the second highest number of public votes in Round 2.  Once the Major Prize winner has accepted the Major Prize, the Runner Up will be notified by phone and mail (not before) Friday, 16 July, 2010.  The Major Prize winner will be published on the SBS website www.sbs.com.au/food Friday, 16 July, 2010 after 14:00 and the Runner Up’s name will be published thereafter.

In the event the Major Prize winner does not confirm or accept the Major Prize by Friday, 16 July, 2010, 14:00, the Major Prize will be awarded to the Entry with the second highest votes.

10.    All prizes are as depicted or described in the promotions for the competition and are not subject to change.

11.    SBS accepts no responsibility for any loss, damages, or injury incurred to enter the competition or in connection with taking up the prizes.

12.    Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

13.    Neither SBS nor Star City or their associated companies will be held liable for any loss, damage or injury of the results directly or indirectly from the Winner taking part in any aspect of the Prize.  

FINAL CONDITIONS

14.    Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of  
printing (exclusive of GST). SBS accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.

15.    It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner’s must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier’s requirements.

16.    SBS accepts no responsibility for any loss, damages, or injury incurred in entering the competition or taking up the prize.

17.    SBS and Star City assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alterations of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes including, but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the promoter reserves the rights in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. Subject to State Regulation.

18.    This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.  Each entry will be individually judged, based upon literary and creative merit. All Entries must be the original independent creation of the entrant and/or any elements must be in the public domain and free of any claims that they infringe any third party rights.  

19.    The judge reserves the right to disqualify any participant submitting an Entry which, in the opinion of the judge, includes objectionable content, including but not limited to profanity, nudity, potentially insulting, scandalous, inflammatory or defamatory images or language.  The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

20.     All Entries become and remain the property of SBS.  SBS may use the participants' names and addresses for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.

21.    By submitting an Entry, you grant to SBS a perpetual, royalty free, non-exclusive, unrestricted worldwide licence to do the following in relation to your Entry:

(a)  use, copy, communicate, redistribute, or adapt the Entry, and
(b)  sub-licence to any third party the same rights.

22.    In order for SBS to use your Entry you confirm and warrant that it is your own original work and/or any elements are in the public domain, is not in breach of any law, whether the laws of Australia or another jurisdiction, that you have right to make the Entry and that you have the consent of anyone who is identifiable in your Entry.

23.    All details of the participants will be used and preserved in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.  A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to that office. Unless otherwise notified, SBS may use the Entries and details of participants for promotional and publicity purposes.   Participants consent to their full names and/or their Entries being used in all media by SBS.
