When it comes to food, there’s always more to discover, which is why we’re excited to present Kitchen Conversations. This podcast series brings you regular food stories featured by SBS Radio's language groups, with an accompanying recipe. Explore both classic and modern dishes from the cuisines listed below.


These audio stories allow you to delve deeper into food, providing you with the unique stories and history behind each dish, as well as tips that will help you better prepare delicious cross-cultural meals at home.

CUISINES


Arabic
Marie Myssy meets with an array of chefs, home cooks and authors to discuss and celebrate the diversity of Arabic cuisine, spanning Morocco to Lebanon and everywhere in between. Recipes include a delicious baked labna barramundi with dukkah, plus classic ingredients such as preserved lemon and spice paste harissa.

Dutch
Anneke Mackay-Smith meets with chef Geert Elzinga to celebrate Dutch cuisine. From the kitchen of his Sydney restaurant Essen, the two discuss how to adapt traditional Dutch dishes to a modern Australian setting. Among the podcasts, you'll find recipes for pea soup and spelt risotto, plus desserts of buttermilk pudding and apple fritters.

Filipino
Food writer Yasmin Newman hosts Sarap: A Filipino Food Journey, sharing recipes for savoury dishes and mouth-watering desserts from her mother's home country of the Philippines. If you're not familiar with the cuisine, you'll soon be cooking staples such as pork and chicken adobo; oxtail stew; and leche flan (Filipino crème caramel).

Greek
Listen in as Themi Kallos meets with Maria Benardis, well-known chef and award-winning food writer, to take us on an informative journey through Greek cuisine. Maria’s extensive knowledge of ancient Greek history and passion for food will delight. Her recipes include baked chicken with haloumi; watermelon and feta salad; and pasta with ladolemono.

Gujarati
Nital Desai presents a podcast that focuses on the surprising and unique flavours of Gujarati cuisine. Dishes include stuffed okra; baked and roasted eggplant; and an unmissable lentil soup with roti.

Italian
Matteo Rubbettino presents L’Italia in Cucina – a podcast in which he interviews chefs to unveil regional Italian classics. Long-time lovers of this cuisine will delight in classic recipes for pumpkin tortellini and ricotta gnocchi, as well as lesser known chickpea lasagne; tagliolini with squid ink; and slow-braised tripe.

Korean
Korean food comprises more than kimchi and bulgogi. In this podcast, Jae Eun Yoon presents The Taste of Korea – an exploration of a variety of traditional and modern dishes. Among the podcasts, you'll find recipes for soft tofu hotpot; beef bone soup; and a popular, crispy Korean seafood pancake.

Maltese
Tune in as Rita O’Dwyer presents A Corner in the Maltese Kitchen, in which she reveals the beauty and complexities of Maltese food. Stand-out recipes include baked spaghetti with ricotta; octopus stew; and, for dessert, a delicious dish of baked pears in wine with almond and liqueur.

Mandarin
Amy Wang takes us on an exciting journey of Chinese cuisine. She discovers the chefs, authors and food lovers making waves in Australia with their modern and fresh take on Chinese cooking. Have a go at the classics, such as stir-fried eggplant and Pai Fang noodles, or opt for stewed oxtail soup, or a memorable chilli fish with minced pork.

Polish
Ela Chylewski presents Polish-ed Plate, a segment in which she shares recipes for traditional Polish cuisine. You'll learn how to prepare a traditional roast duck with apples; summer beetroot soup; and a colourful rose petal jam.

Spanish
In this podcast, Florencia Melgar talks to Spanish-speaking chefs about the characteristic dishes of Spain and South America. In this series, you'll find a wealth of fabulous recipes, such as a stand-out Spanish slow-cooked lamb shoulder; Chilean chicken soup; and a fresh and festive Uruguayan fruit salad.
