Destination Flavour begins August 16

19th June 2012 | 10:51 AET

Destination Flavour is an exciting new food and travel series that serves as your very own culinary compass, pointing to all things fascinating in Australian food. This new, 10-part program premieres 8pm Thursday 16 August on SBS ONE.

The three enthusiastic foodie travellers who'll be guiding our journey are Masterchef winner Adam Liaw, Renee Lim (SBS’s Food Investigators and East West 101) and Lily Serna (SBS’s Letters and Numbers).

Liaw, Lim and Serna will journey across the country seeking out and capturing wonderful tales and characters from the vast world of food production and preparation. The show will also provide tips and hints for viewers on where to find leading food professionals and avant-garde restaurants in their neighbourhoods.

Produced in-house at SBS, the series will profile Australia’s renowned chefs, top providores and food producers, cutting-edge city restaurants and much loved family-run suburban eateries. It will also profile Australia’s rich culinary regions that provide the best "paddock to plate" food. In addition, each episode will feature the step-by-step recipe preparation of numerous dishes.

Destination Flavour attempts to quench that never-ending thirst for wonderfully interesting food heroes, celebrate fabulous produce and explore the various cultures and cuisines Australians are so fortunate to have on their doorstep.

even though there are a lot of foodie programs on, given that Lily's on this, it'll hopefully be good. I still reckon she starred more on L&N but hopefully she has good success on Destination Flavour, even though its about food again etc. But the more of Lily, the better - definitely favourite on SBS for sure.

I'll be watching
I'll be watching this, looks great. Lily Serna is great on Letters and numbers. In fact she is so watchable they could take the host, the dictionary guy and both contestants and I'd still watch Lily.

No More Heston!
At least this one looks achievable! We do need to do more to make people understand the excellence of our produce here in Aus! I hope it also includes some recipes which are easy to cook.

I'm so disappointed
There are dozens of cooking and travel shows scattered across the networks and this doesn't look at all original or interesting. I loved that Lily Serna was more than eye candy on letters and numbers - As a teacher I would hold her up as an example of a woman interested in maths while still being fashionable and cute etc! But I guess cooking is more suitable for a woman. Back in the kitchen where you belong, missy.

Yes We Do!
This show has nothing to do with Letters & Numbers being cancelled and looks like a great addition to SBS's suite of great food programs. I'm really looking forward to it!

No, we don't.
No, we don't need another damn cooking show - especially at the expense of 'Letters and Numbers'. I will make a point of not watching this.

Hot Tips

Putting together a cheese plate

When compiling a cheese plate try to think of a combination of flavours as well as textures (sharp, pungent, crumbly, soft). This creates contrast as well as providing variety for your guests. Consider sweet additions such as cut apples, muscatels or honey.

Damascus Rose
