Very timely post. I have garlic in my garden that look pretty good above ground. We have just had a spate of very wet weather, so I will wait a bit longer to pull them up. I also can't imagine cooking without garlic.

I couldn't imagine cooking without garlic! I have actually found it quite easy to grow. Earlier this year I put about a dozen cloves in a pot and in November I harvested about 10 bulbs. I tied them together and left the undercover outside to dry - I now have a fantastic stock of my own garlic to use which tates so much better than any I ever bought. During the year I also used the green shoots form the garlic in my cooking - a great garlic taste.
Great story - having read years ago that imported garlic is bleached, gassed and sprayed I have not touched the stuff since. Luckily people like Patrice are inspiring and encouraging others to buy locally or grow their own.
