About Peruvian Food
One of the world’s most precious and vibrant cultural fusions, Peruvian cuisine is the living legacy of a colourful history played out across three distinct regions of South America: from the vast, bountiful Pacific coast to the magnificent Andes ranges and lush Amazonian basin.
Boasting more than 2400 kilometres of South America’s western coastline and bordering Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Chile and Bolivia, Peru is best known as the glittering heart of the Incan empire (1438–1532). After being conquered by Spain in the 1530s, it developed into a great centre of wealth and power.
