Plum jam biscuits

Cuisine: Croatian Created by Mira Valcich

Ingredients

250g unsalted butter
300ml cream
2 tbsp vanilla sugar
400g flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
Plum jam
Caster sugar

Preparation

Mix butter, cream, sugar and baking powder.

Slowly add flour to make a soft, stretchy dough. Knead for 5 minutes.

Roll dough out thinly and cut into 15cm long triangles with a pizza cutter or sharp knife.

Place one teaspoon of jam at the wide end of the triangles and roll each one forward into a U shape.

Bake at 200OC until golden. Roll in caster sugar while warm.

Delicious....
I made couple of batches knowing that they wouldn't last for long! They practically melt in your mouth! And the delicious baking smell aroma hangs around for hours...

LOVE THESE!!
I made a batch for my mum to try and she said they were as good as my grandmothers! I made them using the traditional recipe first and also made them using sour cream (its a little easier with the sour cream but not true to tradition)..you can get vanilla sugar and podravka plum jam from Audrey & Marco www.audreyandmarco.com.au. Hope this helps!

best biscuits ive eaten
i made these biscuits to the recipe and they were beautiful,when i made the duogh i refrigerated it overnight and used flour to roll it out, i thought they were the best bisciuts ive eaten and will make them again and again,they are very addictive,when you make pastry you need to refrigerate it and let it rest before rolling out,perhaps this is like a pastry recipe(i am a chef)

how would you know?
it is 300ml of cream and no more extra flour is needed. dont go changing the recipe around, its a traditional croatian recipe and your not making it right, if you were you wouldnt need to add extra ingredients. your not croatian you wouldnt have a clue!

Yes I agree It is definately 300ml's of sour cream not cream. These biscuits are sooo moist and go great with black coffee.

something missing...
I needed to add much more flour to this recipe before my grandmother informed me that you should use 300ml sour cream. not cream. i did this and they were fantastic! You also need to use the traditional podravka jam from your local deli.
