Caramel slice recipe

Ingredients

BASE:
1 cup plain flour
¾ cup desiccated coconut
½ cup caster sugar
125g butter, melted

FILLING:
500ml condensed milk
80g butter
½ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons golden syrup

TOPPING:
125g dark chocolate melts
20g butter

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a 20 x 30 centimetre slice tin with baking paper.

Place all "base" ingredients into a bowl and mix until combined.

Transfer the mixture to the slice tin, pressing in firmly. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.

Place all "filling" ingredients into a saucepan over low heat and stir until the butter has melted.

Pour over the "base" in the tin and bake for a further 20 minutes or until the "filling" is set. Cool.

Melt the chocolate and butter and spread evenly over the cooled slice. Allow to set then cut into squares.
