This quiet and classy French restaurant in suburban Hobart has made a name for itself by serving consistently great food, with servings coming in generous sizes. Chef Jean-Claude Rival was classically trained in Paris, so all the dishes are made from scratch by the man himself, as the kitchen has no apprentices. There are three dining rooms, each with a different trompe l'oeil dancing across the walls. Some of the stand-out dishes include a hot duck pate with brioche, an eye fillet with bearnaise sauce and a sinful creme caramel.

Hot Tips
Ethiopian Injera
Injera, the Ethiopian pancake-style bread is traditionally made with teff (a native wheat). Teff flour may be available at good health food stores, however if you can’t find it, substitute buckwheat, which does not taste exactly like injera but is similar in texture and colour.
Glossary
Anaheim Chillies
Mild, long green chillies named after the area near Los Angeles where they were once grown. Available canned (whole or chopped), or fresh.
