Drummoyne Sailing Club
2 St Georges Cr
Drummoyne NSW 2047
Phone: (02) 97199394
Sitting above the Drummoyne Sailing Club is this popular local, where every table has a view across the waters of Iron Cove. You can also spot the Sydney CBD in the distance, but it sits just far away enough to give the feeling of a dining escape from urban life. The food is mod-Mediterranean with a strong Italian bent, and the homemade pastas are a highlight -- think potato gnocchi with blue swimmer crab meat in napoletana sauce with truffle oil. Families are welcome, and bookings are essential.

Hot Tips
Daily grind
It’s important to check your mortar and pestle regularly for small cracks since they can trap food and breed germs. All you can do in this case is discard them. After use, give the mortar and pestle a good rinse in warm water (and a little detergent if you’ve been using particularly pungent ingredients). Pounding a little uncooked rice after rinsing and drying the mortar and pestle helps remove residual odours.
Glossary
Mirin
A pale amber coloured cooking wine used for a hint of sweetness and as a glaze for grilled dishes.
