As any linguist or Harry Potter aficionado will tell you, Veritas means 'truth', which is a pretty good introduction to this restaurant. Veritas is a comfortable and intimate space with a touch of chic city style, but none of the attending pretension. The food is similarly stylish but grounded. Chef Don Morison cooks Mediterranean-influenced food that is creative without being intimidating. Dishes such as a seafood bouillabaisse or a veal osso bucco with saffron risotto show that Morison has a firm grasp of classic technique - truly.

Rescuing burnt garlic
Burning garlic will make it taste bitter and unpalatable, however if you do burn your garlic while heating it in olive oil (the basis of so many French and Italian meals) simply strain out the garlic pieces - the oil will have taken on much of the flavour of the garlic already and will impart this through your dish.
