Paying tribute to the Hindu Goddess of Plenty, Annalakshmi is a unique and inspiring concept brought to the shores of the Swan from Malaysia. Here, the guest is God, and your senses are treated to a generous helping of Hindu hospitality, not to mention a 360? panorama of the Perth city skyline, South Perth and Kings Park. Should you dine here on the last Saturday of the month, you'll also witness the awe-inspiring performance by the students of The Temple of Fine Arts. What really touches the hearts and minds of guests is the wholesome vegetarian food - cooked not by chefs, but lovingly prepared by volunteering mothers, grandparents, sisters and brothers who have learned from their ancestors the art of creating food for the soul. Among the delights in the buffet-style banquet are traditional Asian, Indian and Sri Lankan dishes such as the flavoursome eggplant curry, potato masala and Indian sweets. It's strictly no alcohol, so liquid refreshment comes in the form of fresh fruit juices and treats such as the mango lassi. There are no set prices either: you 'eat as you like and pay as you feel'. Contributions help Annalakshmi support the Temple of Service in providing India's underprivileged with free food and medical services. So indulge, enjoy and give generously.

Hot Tips

Peeling and de-seeding capsicum

Place peppers under a hot grill, turning from time to time until they are scorched and blackened all over. Place the hot peppers in a plastic bag, seal and leave for 20 minutes. Peel, and pull out the core (it will come away quite easily taking most of the seeds with it).

Glossary

Cannoli

A Sicilian pastry consisting of a deep-fried dough tube and traditionally filled with sweetened ricotta and candied fruits and peel.
