After running a large restaurant in Israel, owners Edna and Olesh have settled for a more intimate, cosy cafe setting in Elsternwick. Some have described the cuisine as modern Israeli with dishes such as manakish, a Lebanese-style flat bread is topped with tahini sauce, roast vegetables and a choice of feta or beef. A popular choice is the marinated chicken baguette with fried onion.

Cooking feijoada
Feijoada is the national dish of Brazil. When the feijoada is nearly ready be careful not to use a fork or spoon (or in fact any utensils) in the dish, this is said to spoil the flavour and turn the dish sour. If you do need to add water while it is cooking, make sure it is boiling.

Comino Seed
A plant related to the carrot. Aromatic, somewhat bitter seeds of the Comino, used in chilli powders, pickles, spare ribs, and other meat dishes.
