Like diving into a jug of sangria, Different Drummer Avalon gives you a splash of Spanish-tinged tantalisation. Following in the footsteps of the famed Different Drummer of Glebe, this venue brings a much-needed buzz to the local bar scene of the Northern Beaches, what with its tequila-infused cocktails and traditional tapas menu. The beloved sizzling garlic prawns sit among a vast menu of Spanish-Mexican fare such as spicy bean nachos, vegetarian and seafood paella, Spanish meatballs, grilled sardines and so much more.
The share platters let you easily survey the Spanish tastes with your group of besties, though you can also order a la carte (which wouldn't be a bad idea given that desserts like Spanish churros, or doughnuts, are on the agenda). Like the menus, Different Drummer offers a casual, purple-lit bar area for the drink-and-a-bite crowds, and a fiery red Spanish stucco-walled dining room for late-night feasts and fiestas.

Woks
One of the essential cooking implements of Indonesia is the wok. You must remember to have it as hot as Indonesians do when they cook so you can achieve the wonderful flavour and aroma that comes from intense heat, often referred to as "the breath of the wok".
Glossary
Pastizzi
Dozens of layers of flaky pastry filled with a variety of fillings, the most traditional being ricotta and mushy peas.
