Easy to spot on the corner of Maroubra and Bunnerong Roads, this local Italian institution is run by a pizza master who learned his trade back in Italy and, subsequently, in Sydney's Little Italy of Leichhardt. So it's no surprise that Vinny's Woodfired Pizza & Restaurant is akin to taking a Roman holiday, at least for an hour or two.

Coming fresh from the wood oven, the sourdough pizzas are as authentic as they come and topped with a mouth-watering range of ingredients, such as mozzarella, prosciutto, salami, king prawns and so much more. Many of the offerings are vegetarian, halal and gluten-free, so don't be afraid to ask about it. And, of course, if you're not feeling like pizza, Vinny's has pastas, schnitzels and veal specialties too.
