Gypsy Hideout

Gypsy Hideout
68 High St
Northcote VIC 3070
Phone: (04) 33166248

While not quite convinced on how the colourful gypsy reference gels with the clean interiors at this cute Northcote eatery, I'm certain that if I was a gypsy - or any other ethnicity for that matter - then this joint would be a more than agreeable hidey hole.

A few eclectic details spice up the warm and modern dining area - vintage bric-a-brac and antique-style furnishings. The courtyard is alluringly sun-drenched, but it's the cafe fare that shines the brightest and commands the attention of locals, with all-day brekkie items and yummy Greek staples featured on the lunch menu.

Hot Tips

Red wine or white wine?

The general rule with wine is that red wine, with its richer and deeper flavours, is a great accompaniment to red meats, while white wine works well with white meats (fish and chicken). However take time to experiment, there are plenty of exceptions to the rules and with wine the rules are definitely made to be broken.
