Cornering the post-surf hunger-busting market on the Surf Coast, this small (but growing) chain of Mexican eateries is a much-loved hangout for locals, visitors, surfers and beach bums alike. The Californian-style Mexican food is just what this part of the world needed, judging by the way the burritos, tacos, nachos and enchiladas are wolfed down by hungry diners. And the good news is that Las Olas prides itself on producing everything (even the salsa, taco shells and corn chips for nachos) fresh in-house daily and aiming for the most healthy versions of their dishes possible, so it's a far cry from 'dirty fast food'.

Hot Tips
Crispy potato pancakes
When making potato pancakes wring out the excess moisture in the potatoes (after you grate them) in a clean, dry tea towel. This will ensure a crisp batter.
