SBS will premiere the much-anticipated second season of The Handmaid’s Tale at SBS and SBS On Demand in 2018, with the next instalment of the Emmy-winning series fast-tracked from the US. 

The announcement was made Tuesday at SBS Australia's Upfront presentation.

The exclusive premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale at SBS On Demand in July 2017 set new records for SBS' free streaming platform. The entire first series remains available to stream anytime.  

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Elisabeth Moss stars alongside Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Samira Wiley.
