Three years later, at the sweet age of 16, we bring those kids back to see how life’s changed.

Does Zabelle still think “30 would be a good age” to start having sex?

Is Lionel in the running to be the next star player for the Parramatta Eels?

Has Shane succumbed to peer pressure?

And is Alex still being taunted by the boys for being a ballet dancer?

Watch our exclusive interview with teenage Olympian Melissa Wu

Thirteen was remarkable for bringing together kids from the country and the city to talk openly about terrorism, peer pressure and the role of technology in their lives. It was the winner of a United Nations Media Peace Prize for Children’s Rights and Issues in 2006.

Some of our guests will be available after the show for you to talk to on our Live Chat.

Meet the Guests

  • Lionel Wood and Shane Riley

In 'Thirteen' the most important thing to Shane and Lionel was peer pressure and role models. We gave them cameras and they created a film about life in Dubbo on the Gordon Estate, a housing commission area with a largely indigenous population. Both had ambitions to play elite sport when they get older. What are their dreams now? Watch Shane and Lionel's story.

  • Alex Rzechowicz

At 13 Alex felt different. Unlike most boys his age, he was a ballet dancer and he was bullied for pursing his passion. Since then Alex has hung up his ballet shoes and is now chasing a bigger dream. Watch Alex's story.

  • Mona El-Mohtadi

What's it like being 13 and Muslim? Ruda, Mona, Basma & Lina where given a camera to show us what their lives are like. Watch their story here.

  • Hayden Coggan

Hayden lives in Dubbo and in 'Thirteen' he thought it was 'heaps good.' He used to play footy with Lionel. How have things changed?

  • Momil Rana

In our last program, Momil was too afraid to leave the house wearing her hijab. Three years on, does wearing a hijab still attract unwanted attention?

  • Zabelle Betchakjian

At 13 Zabelle didn't want to a loner at high school. Does fitting in still matter?

But at the same time, the majority say they want to stay in the Eurozone. Is the tough economic medicine the right approach? And could the backlash in Greece spread to other countries? Start the conversation here.
