Kicking off the holiday season at the White House, First Lady Laura Bush has welcomed the White House Christmas tree for 2008.

The Tree arrived in a horse drawn wagon and originated from the state of North Carolina.

The tree will go in the White House Blue Room.

Bush said the tree will be decorated with ornaments from all across the United States made by local artists.

While this years theme is yet to be announced, Mrs Bush did say it would be a good one and wished everyone a happy holiday.

Workers then used a fork lift to lift the massive tree off the wagon where they will manoeuvre it into the White House.
