Pauline Hanson (AAP)

Everyone's a Twitter but Pauline Hanson.

As of Friday, day five of the Queensland election, Ms Hanson had just eight followers on the social networking site Twitter, which is favoured by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Premier Anna Bligh, to name a few.

By contrast Premier Bligh has more than 500 followers, while the prime minister has nearly 10,000 fans.

Even a fake Wilson Tuckey site sports nearly 70 fans.

Liberals starting to Twitter

Liberal National Party (LNP) leader Lawrence Springborg, whose Twitter page says, "just getting into twitter", has 146 followers.

Online expert Richard Fellner says politicians are embracing the new technology to keep up with the younger members of their electorates, while appearing to be tech-savvy.

"Social networking sites are a new way for politicians to communicate with their constituents," he said.

Ms Hanson, the former One Nation leader, has confirmed she will contest the Gold Coast hinterland seat of Beaudesert in the March 21 Queensland state election.
