Senator Fielding has recently returned from a trip to the US where he met with climate change sceptics who blame global warming on solar flares not human activity or carbon emissions.

It's a theory he believes has some credibility.

Senator Fielding has told ABC he's heard that solar activity seems to be more closely aligned to global temperature changes over a long period of time.

He says there's a blanket acceptance that carbon emissions is the cause of global warming without there having been a proper debate on the issue.

The Senator will meet with Climate Change Minister Penny Wong this week and will present her with information supporting the solar flare theory.
