Unconfirmed reports on Twitter say violence resulting from disputing elections in Iran have spread beyond the country's captal, Tehran.

Twitter users have reported Iranian authorities have prevented anyone from getting near the scene of an alleged explosion at Nooshiravani Babol University. So far there are no images of this explosion.

Violence has also been reported in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz. Bloggers claim one protester has died and several others have been seriously injured.

An unconfirmed video on YouTube shows chaos in Shiraz, with hundreds of people rioting, and fires burning in the middle of a busy commercial street.

CNN reports on clashes in Iran's third largest city, Esfehan. iReport, CNN's user-generated site, has pictures of the clashes which show a man carrying an injured friend away from protests, and a massive plume of smoke resulting from fires in the street.

There have also been clashes in Tabriz, with Iran's official media building, catering for both radio and television, reportedly being set on fire.

Twitter users say the Tabriz headquarters of the Basij, or voluntary Iranian paramilitary, has been set on fire, after earlier reports blamed the group for sparking much of the violence at protests.
