A north Queensland man who died after police stunned him with a Taser last Friday could have been shot more than 20 times with the stun gun.

A north Queensland man who died after police stunned him with a Taser last Friday could have been shot more than 20 times with the stun gun.

Data downloaded from the Taser used to contain the 39-year-old man in Brandon, near Townsville, shows it operated on 28 separate cycles at the time of the incident.

Queensland police say they're analysing the stun gun to determine how many of those 28 cycles involved the dead man.

Ian Leavers from the Queensland Police Union is calling for cameras to be put on Tasers, saying they're needed as evidence when allegations of excessive force are made.

This is approx 50,000 volts+, 28 times! What did they expect? Does this mean the police are allowed to handle a WEAPON when they are not instructed on its uses and dangers? I don't think so! Once a victim has been stunned they are immobile, there is no reason to use a taser in EXCESS unless your intention is to cause grievous bodily harm, or in this case DEATH!
