Investigators probing Michael Jackson's death have subpoenaed medical records from the star's doctors, as the head of the Los Angeles police department said homicide had not been ruled out.

The Los Angeles Times on Thursday reported that coroners had called for any records held by Jackson's multiple doctors, "including radiology and psychiatric records," as part of an ongoing investigation into the singer's death on June 25.
  
Meanwhile Los Angeles police chief Bill Bratton told CNN they were awaiting "corroboration from the coroner's office as to the cause of death."

Overdose, homicide 'not ruled out'
  
The police chief said they were looking into Jackson's "prescription drug history, the doctors that he's dealt with over the years."
  
Bratton said toxicology reports would likely determine the cause of death, but he didn't rule out either an overdose or homicide.
  
"Are we dealing with homicide? Are we dealing with an accidental overdose? What are we dealing with? So as we are standing here speaking, I can tell you, I don't have that information."
  
Investigators are said to be looking into five doctors who had treated Jackson in the past.

Diprivan concerns
  
They have apparently zeroed in on a powerful sedative -- Diprivan -- discovered at Jackson's rented mansion after his death.
  
Diprivan is commonly used to induce unconsciousness in hospital patients ahead of major surgery and experts say it should only be administered by a trained anesthesiologist.
  
Jackson's apparent drug use has come into focus in recent days, amid reports that family members believed he had a substance abuse problem and tried to stage an intervention.
