A member of Iran's Basij militia has told Jerusalem Post how members of the force would rape virgins before their execution to make their death legal.

In Iran it is illegal to execute a young woman if she is a virgin, according to religious law.

To overcome that, members of the Basij would 'wed' prisoners before their execution and force them to have sex with their 'husbands'.

The anonymous Basij militant says the young women feared the rape more than death.

"I could tell that the girls were more afraid of their 'wedding' night than of the execution that awaited them in the morning," he told Jerusalem Post.

"And they would always fight back, so we would have to put sleeping pills in their food. By morning the girls would have an empty expression; it seemed like they were ready or wanted to die."

He says some of the women harmed themselves as a result of the rape.

"I remember hearing them cry and scream after [the rape] was over," he said.

"I will never forget how this one girl clawed at her own face and neck with her finger nails afterwards. She had deep scratches all over her."

The Basij are a volunteer paramilitary group extremely loyal to the Ayatollah and religious regime of Iran.

The order was formed after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, by then Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini.

Muhammad ordered the sexual enslavement of women who were conquered by his armies. Rape has ALWAYS been a part of Islam since the "revelations" in Medina when Muhammad gave the OK to violence and conquest. Any Muslim who claims otherwise is practicing "taqiya" or deceit to the infidels. Qur'an (4:24) - "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." Even sex with married slaves is permissible.

As a Muslim woman, I can proudly say that the very top priority in this religion are its women.
Respect and love towards women is what the religion is about.
This hideous cruelty towards vulnerable women is a gross misrepresentation and an insult to the religion, to the nation and to the pseudo leaders.
They do not represent the true religion of Islam nor do can they ever represent their people.

What on earth are these young virgins doing that deserves the death penalty?
These so called "religious" men are total hypocrites.
Those poor young girls. It makes you wonder if the crimes are being fabricated just so these sick perverted and twisted men can have their way with virgins.
As if marrying them first makes it OK.
Can anyone do anything or is anyone doing anything substantial about this?
