Dateline Reporter Aaron Lewis has been nominated for a Walkley Award for his story on the savage murders of albinos in East Africa (Dateline)

SBS is among this year's finalists in the Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism.

Dateline Reporter Aaron Lewis has been nominated for the Social Equity Journalism award for his story on The Skin Trade.

Lewis travelled to East Africa where a lethal mix of prejudice, traditional beliefs and greed fuelled the bizarre murder of albinos - and especially albino children.

Dateline's Chief Producer Geoff Parish and contributor Fouad Hady are in the running for the International Journalism Award for City of Widows.

Hady, an Iraqi refugee, portrayed a unique perspective on war torn Baghdad, searching for its future after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

And Anna Broinowski of SBS TV has been nominated for the Television Current Affairs, Feature, Documentary or Special (more than 20 minutes) category for Forbidden Lie$.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Sydney in November.

The winners announced will also compete for the country's top journalism prize, the Gold Walkley.
