A German orchestra has announced plans to play in a brothel, in an attempt to bring classical music "out of the concert hall and to where people are".

Six musicians and a singer from the Forum for Contemporary Music in the eastern city of Leipzig will perform a series of "licentious and erotic" works at the Eros Centre.

These include Le Flirt by French composer Erik Satie for piano and voice, Seven Erotic Songs by Dirk D'Ase for mezzo-soprano and piano, and Askell Masson's Rhythm Strip played on two snare-drums.

Punters and sex workers at the brothel will be invited to enjoy the concert on Friday.

The show comes ahead of a festival devoted to "erotic music culture" entitled "Sex.Macht.Musik" ("Sex.Makes.Music") due to take place in Leipzig in December.
