There is talk of a leadership spill against Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull (AAP)

Malcolm Turnbull has put his leadership on the line, declaring coalition support for an emissions trading deal,  against substantial opposition in his own party room.

The opposition leader outraged critics of the deal last night when he declared he is the leader and he has made the call.

West Australian liberal Wilson Tuckey has threatened to call for a spill of the leadership, possibly as early as tomorrow, but no Liberal party room meeting has yet been convened.

Apart from Wilson Tuckey, former minister Kevin Andrews spoke out against his leader and has offered himself to replace Mr Turnbull if the party wants him.

Meanwhile, business has welcomed last night's negotiated agreement on the climate change legislation saying they can now plan future investments for a low emissions economy.
