The widow of one of five Australian reporters killed in East Timor in 1975 will attend an official lunch for Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono today.

The widow of one of five Australian-based reporters killed in East Timor in 1975 will attend an official lunch for Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono today.

The death of the Balibo Five has been a long-running blight on relations between Indonesia and Australia.

A New South Wales coroner found Indonesian forces deliberately killed the five journalists, but none of the perpetrators has been held accountable to date.

The Australian Federal Police last year launched a war crimes investigation into the killings.

A spokesman says Shirley Shackleton, the widow of Greg Shackleton, does not plan to confront the president but will give Indonesian embassy staff a letter for him.
