Iron ore and coal dominate the figures - but which metals are up there in terms of Australian production?

 

While coal and iron ore dominate debate, production of the below-listed metals totalled 70,782,097 tonnes in 2008/09.

And with the addition of iron ore, metals production, measured in tonnes, far outweighed the production of coal.

Iron Ore: 353,000,000 tonnes

Black Coal: 333,600,000 tonnes

Bauxite (Aluminium ore): 63,966,000 tonnes

Magnanese Ore: 3,730,000 tonnes

Zinc: 1,411,000 tonnes

Copper: 890,000 tonnes

Lead: 596,000 tonnes

Nickel: 185,000 tonnes

Tin: 3,879 tonnes

Gold 218 tonnes

Diamonds: 15,166,000 carats

Natural gas: 40,109,000 Cubic metres (40, 109 Mm3)

Crude oil: 27,789,000 litres (27, 789 megalitres)
