Interest rates maybe on hold, but for how long? SBS' Ricardo Goncalves asked a group of economists where they think rates will be by the end of the year.

An exclusive SBS Poll of 15 economists found all expect at least 1 more rate rise by the end of the year.

Most - 53 per cent - or eight of the 15 - predict the official cash rate to climb to 5 per cent.

And that has prompted mortgage experts to encourage borrowers to do a financial health check.

Savers will be closely watching interest rates too. There are people who actually want interest rates to rise. There are people who actually care about inflation. There are people who want to see house prices fall.
