Anti-islamic Dutch MP Geert Wilders has told SBS's Dateline that islamic culture is 'retarded' - promopting a huge reaction in the Dutch press.

The branding of Islamic culture as 'retarded' by far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders' - on SBS's Dateline programme - has prompted a big reaction in the Dutch press.

Wilders' Freedom Party won 24 seats in the 2010 election earlier in the year, on the basis of an anti-Islamic campaign.

And now he looks set to visit Australia, after telling Dateline that Western culture is 'better than the retarded Islamic culture.'

Wilders told Dateline he's forming a worldwide anti-Islamic organisation which will visit all Western countries, including Australia, to establish local chapters. He's also planning to visit Ground Zero in New York - the site of the 911 attacks - on September 11th this year.

Wilders' party is the third biggest party in the country based on the election, and making waves in the opinion polls since - some polls ranking his the most popular party overall.

He's called for a 'polluter pays' headscarve tax, a ban on the Koran and Islamic schools, and immigration laws which deny migration to Holland of all people from majority Muslim countries, regardless of whether they are even Muslims themselves. He's also compared the Koran to Hitler's Mein Kampf.

The story on the Dateline site has proved one of the most popular this year, with large amounts of traffic from the Netherlands.

please research the background, laws and mainly the main goal of islam before you make comments regarding the visit of Geert Wilders. Europe is rotting and left wing "puppets" are watching it die. This man can see what is happening. there are videos, stories and a wealth of figures and stats on the net I suggest people look at before jumping on here and thinking all is good and accusing people like him of inticing hatred.

We must not be blinded by the fact that there is a war wether we like it or not, for Muslims beleive there are two lands 1- lands of Islam and 2- lands of war ( where there is no islam).. Being anti- islamic isnt racist, for islam is not a race but an idealogy. There are trojan horses in all western countries now in the form of tight knit, anti-western colonies of muslims refusing to assimilate to their host nations gaining numbers, abusing welfare, commiting crime, waiting.......

Globalisation is a force that comes from all corners of the globe. Just as our western culture invades the east, eastern culture invade the west. Easterners don't like some of what we have to offer, and so the local reacts to the global. We don't like some of what they have to offer, so what the hell is the problem with us serving some back if we're trying to defend our local against the global.

someone with the guts to stand up for us.the u.k. and other european countrys are over run with muslims- imposing their beliefs on us-and in the uk, they are to scared of saying anything for being accused of rascism. i have experianced reverse rascism/and a preference for hiring muslims over white british in the uk- why cant the muslims leave to another majority muslim country??no problems with integration then is there?-ahhh dont get paid to breed, and none of the SOCIAL BENEFITS of our CULTURE

I lived in Holland for 27 years and have seen it go down the drain ,because of so called labour shortages and getting in cheap labour from poor countries. It is exactly what is happening here right now. Let him have his say here and we might learn something from the past.

1. Our Constitution implies freedom of religion. 2. There is also an implied right of freedom of political communication. Unless the Constitution is changed there is very little hope for anyone to discriminate between religions, one way or the other. 3. Christianity throughout history has been forcefully converting, subduing, fighting religious wars and brainwashing. Convert groups go to Iraq and Afghanistan: radicals are in both camps - bigots. Try Buddhism if you don't like a violent religion.

There seems to be a dearth of proper understanding here. It is a fad to use the word Islam the same as being a RELIGION with Priests and Church. Islam is a code for living a harmonious life among all faiths as all divine messengers are to be “believed”. The customs, rituals and dogma of Muslim Churches from different countries; is not Islam. All the problems in the world have always had a common thread and that is Religion/Church/Priests. Ooopps!
