Cabramatta Liberal candidate Dai Le is a Vietnamese refugee, but she supports the Liberals' no boat' policy. She explained why in an interview with Peta-Jane Madam.

Ahead of Saturday's NSW elections, the Liberals have been targeting Labor held seats with multicultural candidates, such as Cabramatta in Sydney's west.

Their candidate arrived here on a rickety boat but sees no conflict with her own party's position of stopping the boats.

Cabramatta Liberal candidate Dai Le is hoping to become the first Vietnamese refugee to be popularly elected to an Australian parliament.

This is Cabramatta where migrants make up half the population and english is their second language it's traditional Labor territory.

But her candidacy is changing that perception.
