Warne and Hurley 'engaged'
Shane Warne and model Liz Hurley are reported to be engaged after the legendary Australian spin bowler proposed in a restaurant in Scotland. (AAP)
Shane Warne has reportedly popped the question to 46-year-old British model and actress Liz Hurley
Are they or aren't they? Australia's most famous spin bowler has reportedly popped the question to 46-year-old British model and actress Liz Hurley.
The cricketer apparently asked Liz to marry him at the Alfred Dunhill Links Golf Championship in St Andrews, Scotland.
The UK's Daily Mirror was unequivocal on Saturday:
"(Warne) was still grinning ear to ear on the course yesterday when he confirmed: `Yes, we are engaged'."
The British tabloid also snapped Liz sporting a new large sapphire and diamond ring reported to have cost Warne at least STG50,000 ($A80,379).
The Dail Mail reports that Warne proposed on Friday in a restaurant at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews following a romantic meal.
Unidentified sources told the paper Warne, 42, asked Liz to marry him in front of VIP guests in the hotels' fine dining Road Hole Restaurant.
Warnie and Liz have cryptically tweeted "thanks for all the congratulations" and posted a picture of themselves going to a Dunhill dinner.
In an earlier tweet to her beau, Liz used a golfing metaphor hinting at more romantic activity: "Let's play the Dunhill together next year - you up for it? You swing great and have nice rhythm - with a super short game!"
Calls to Warne's brother Jason were unanswered on Sunday.

A match made in heaven!
People look down on Shane for his past indiscretions and infidelity with his wife. Let me take the minority stand and congratulate this man for making the best decision of his life. I sincerely believe he has found his true love after all these years; both look so compatible that they look like mutual winners. And congratulations to Liz Hurley for dumping that dork ex-husband of hers called Arun Nayyar - He may be a super-rich tycoon but Shane is way above his league in every other department.
