SBS video journalist Mark Davis’s talks about uncovering hidden truths in East Timor and gives his tips for budding investigative journalists who want to be in the thick of it all.

SBS’s Dateline video journalist Mark Davis won the prestigious Gold Walkley in 2000 for Blood Money - a report into the funding of pro-Indonesian militias in East Timor.

His CV includes an enviable list of one-on-one interviews, including Julian Assange, Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed and Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf.

He talks to SBS Online about the investigative skills that won him the award, and gives his tips for budding video journalists, urging anyone with an inquisitive mind and sense of adventure to get a camera and just “go and do it”.
