Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd will attend security conference in Munich from Friday.

Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd will attend a security conference in Munich from Friday.

Mr Rudd will be on a panel discussing America, Europe and the Rise of Asia, chaired by former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger at the 48th Munich Security Conference.

"The peaceful rise of Asia is one of the greatest challenges faced this century, and which will impact, not only on our region, but on Europe and the wider world," Mr Rudd said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the conference would also focus on the situation in Syria, building a new Middle East, security implications of the financial crisis and cyber security.

Prime ministers, defence and foreign ministers, business leaders, think-tanks and academia would be among the attendees at the security policy forum from February 3 to 5.

Mr Rudd said he would also have several bilateral meetings with regional and international figures.
