To win the Republican nomination, a candidate needs 1,444 delegates behind them. So how many are up for grabs in each state, and when are they?

To win the Republican nomination, a candidate needs 1,444 delegates behind them.

Unallocated states: some states hold caucus and primary votes but do not allocate delegates to a candidate, or do it at a later date; they therefore attract less candidate focus and media attention.

Note: Primaries feature secret ballot votes similar to Election Day, while caucuses are a more simple affair where voters meet and form smaller groups around a candidate. More on this here.
