Man may lose arm after Qld train fall

A man had to be airlifted to hospital after he fell from a train in southeast Queensland, suffering serious injuries.

A man could lose his arm after falling from a train west of Brisbane.

A rescue helicopter flew the man from Murphys Creek to a Brisbane hospital around midnight (AEST) on Saturday.

RACQ CareFlight air crewman Bradd Shelton said the man had a severely injured left arm that may need to be amputated.

"He also suffered a minor head injury and upper body fractures," he said.

It was not known how the man fell from the train.

He was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The incident comes after a five-year-old boy fell out of the moving Sunlander passenger train near Cairns in far north Queensland in December.
