At least 23 Syrian soldiers killed: report

Three Syrian troop carriers have been destroyed in deadly dawn clashes on the outskirts of the city of Rastan, according to initial reports.

Fierce clashes with armed rebels in the

central city of Rastan have left at least 23 Syrian soldiers dead and

dozens wounded, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says.

The Britain-based monitoring group said initial reports indicated that

three troop carriers were destroyed in the clashes that began at dawn on Monday on the

outskirts of the city, located in Homs province.
