Greens want refugee intake doubled
Senator Hanson Young. (AAP)
The Australian Greens want the country to almost double its annual humanitarian refugee intake to 25,000.

The Australian Greens want the country to almost double its annual humanitarian refugee intake.
Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Yong said the minor party does not want people to make the dangerous sea journey to Australia.
Instead she wants Australia to increase its refugee intake from about 14,000 now to 25,000.
"That would go a long way to dealing with the numbers of people (coming) currently," she told ABC radio on Monday.
The senator rejected suggestions onshore processing was an incentive for asylum seekers to come by boat.
"In 2011/12, we have seen an increase of 20 per cent of asylum seekers around the world," she said.
"Of course that has meant an increase, in our region, in the number of people seeking asylum."
Both Labor and the coalition are under pressure to reach a compromise on asylum-seeker policy in the wake of a fatal boat capsize late last week in which more than 90 people are feared dead.
The Greens have rejected suggestions they are responsible for large numbers of asylum seekers coming to Australia because of their onshore processing policy.

Because of representatives like Sarah Hanson-Young, the Greens Party is destined to remain a party of protest in the eyes of the broader electorate and of no real value to the environment or anything else for that matter.

During the veitnam war a refugee intake was 18% of all migration to australia.WE was kinder and willing to help these people who can forget the little girl running down the road with her skin peeled of due to napalm. We fought in that war.Fast forward war in iraq .afghanistan.Current intake of refugees 6% of all migration to australia each year and we fought in these wars.So the greens want to increase intake a good idea. But aussies have become brainwashed by fear and hatred not kindness.

As Australian's baby boomers retire there will be an even greater shortage of skilled and professional workers. Increasing the number of refugees taken into Australia will go a long way to assisting Australia's economy for the long term. Thank you to the Australian Greens for thinking of Australians and our future.

Well if she is not plugging the homosexual lobby she is plugging the illegal immigrants justification. It will be interesting to see what portfolio she gets in the next re-shuffle. Certainly the current bio does not inspire.

Sarah Hanson-Yong is a very miss guided young Australian! She cares more about the Illegal boat people, than she does for her fellow Australians. She was voted in to care for the Australian people suffering and not the illegal boat people! it's clear she belives it's ok for our people to be homeless, pensioners struggling to meet the very basic needs of life and 7 Australians to die every day of every year due to mental illness, where's her polices, caring, compassion and loyalties to Australians
